Article 1 : Organisation
The third edition of the Marseille Marathon® is organized on March 25th, 2012, under the aegis of La Mairie de Marseille, the CarmaSport company and the Massilia Marathon association (association under the law of 1901, affiliated to the Athletics french federation.)

Article 2 : The route
- The Marathon route: the route measures 42,195 km and respects the international regulations for road races (IAAF et FFA).
- The Half-Marathon route: the route measures 21,1 km; using the marathon route it respects the international regulations for road races (IAAF et FFA).
- The Ladies rout: the route measure 9.5 km.

Article 3 : Registration
The Marathon race is open to all athletes licensed or non-licensed, born in 1992 and before. The Half-Marathon race is open to runners born in 1994 and before. The ladies race is open to runners born in 1994 and before and female.
Age categories will be given a separate classification in agreement with the F.F.A. You are reminded that inspections will be carried out during the race to ensure that race regulations are respected. It is especially pointed out that runners compete in the race under their own responsibility. Participation in sporting events organized or accredited by sports federations is subject to the possession of sport licence attesting the issue of a medical certificate. For the non-licensed, the participation is subject to the possession of a simple medical certificate (or the copy) dating from less than one year at the race date. In the two cases, the medical certificate has to stipulate the absence of contraindications for participation in running competitions and must contains the mention below: “no contraindications for participation in running competitions". - Online, reserve your runner number from the registration link

- Take the opportunity to book our Marseille Marathon® packages including the entry fees and the accommodation from the " Your accommodation" link.
- By post, downloading the registration form.

Any registration will be accepted on the scene.

Any registration form will be considered as incomplete if it doesn't contain all this following documents : 

- official registration form filled in
- payment of entry fees ( credit card payment or cheque addressed to KMS Marseille Marathon),
- performance proof  of 2011 or 2012 for the marathon
- less than 2h30 to obtain an “élite 2h30” bib ; less than 3h to obtain a”3h00” bib
- performance proof  of 2011 or 2012 for the Half-Marathon
Final date for sending the documents: March the 15th, 2012 12h00 p.m

- medical certificate or copy of a valid sports licence is to give at your withdrawal bib. (Village Marseille Marathon). 

Article 4 : Entry procedure
Marathon entry fees: 45 € (rental of the dag system included) and 55 € from December, the 15th, 2011.
Half-Marathon entry fees: 22 € (rental of the dag system included) and 28 € from January the 15th , 2012.
Ladies entry fees : 12 € and 15 € from the february the 1st, 2012
Each registration is personal, and definitive and cannot be refund for whatever the reasons. No registration transfers will be allowed, whatever the reasons.

Any person retroceding his/her runner number to a third party, will be held responsible in case of an accident arising or provoked by this third party during the competition. The organisation is exempt from all responsibility in case of an accident in this type of situation. Runner numbers must be fully legible during the whole race; offenders would be disqualified.

Article 5 : Runner number withdrawal
Runner numbers must be collected on March friday 23th and Saturday 24th 2012, from 9h00 a.m to 8p.m. Location: Marseille Marathon Village: Vieux Port (Old Port), 13002 Marseille.

Runner numbers will be available upon presentation of confirmation of each registration, your medical certfical or sportive licence and an identity document (ID, passport etc.).
Any race number will be sent by post, and won't be allocated on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 before the start of the race.

Article 6 : The official jury
The official jury is composed of an F.F.A. judges whose decision is final.
Official race judges and race stewards appointed by the F.F.A assist them.
Refreshment posts will be located every 5 km from the KM 5 and at the finish line. Sponge-posts will be located every 5 km from the KM 7.5. 
The competitors agree, on their honour, not to anticipate the start and to cover the full distance before crossing the finish line.

Article 7 : Timing control
The official timekeeper KMS will be in charged of the timing.
Each competitor will be given a dag in his/her bib. The dag system will be automatically initialized at the starting line and will be used to control each competitor’s time from different check points placed on the route.
Competitors failing to follow the whole route will be disqualified.
The dags must be returned to the organizer after the race. In case of withdrawal or cancellation, the dags must be brought back to the village or returned to the organiser at least 15 days after the race (address: KMS - Marseille Marathon, 46 boulevard de la fédération, 13004 Marseille). Each non-returned dag will be charged 15 euros and the competitor will be disqualified from the event.

Article 8 : Competition period
For the Marathon, competitors will be permitted up to 5h30 for completion of the course from the starting of the race at 8h30 a.m.
For the Half-Marathon, competitors will be permitted up to 2h45 for completion of the course from the starting of the race at 8h30 a.m.
For the ladies, competitors will be permitted uo to 1h30 for completion of the course from the starting at 8h30 a.m.

A marathon vehicle will take the route to collect runners who have been disqualified or who have chosen to stop the race. Each runner out of competition, who is still running the race, will be held responsible in case of an accident. The organisation is exempt from all responsibility in case of an accident in this type of situation.

Article 9 : Road safety : health ans safety
Road safety is under control of the police department.
An approved safety association and the Bataillon des Marins Pompiers of Marseilles provide medical services. 9 first aid posts are placed on the route. Accident and emergency doctors of the BMPM present on these posts may stop any competitor from continuing the race for medical reasons.

Article 10 : Insurances
Public liability: in accordance with prevailing legislation, the organiser has taken out
insurance covering its own public liability as well as that of its representatives and all
participants in the Marseille Marathon®.
An insurance certificate can be provided to participants on request.

Article 11 : Rights of possession
According to his/her participation in the Marseille Marathon®, each competitor expressly and exclusively grant the organisation (or its assigns), the irrevocable right to use (or get sb to use) or to reproduce (or get sb to reproduce) his/her name, his/her image, his/her voice, his/her performance related to the Marathon, in connexion with all indirect or direct exploitation of the event, world-wide in any and all devices, media, whatsoever, now known or hereafter known, for the entire duration of the protection period currently awarded by legislative or regulatory bodies, court decisions and/or arbitrages in any country, and currently existing of future international conventions, including eventual prolongations which may be made to this duration.

Article 12 : Road safety on the route
Bicycles or motorised vehicles are strictly forbidden on the course, except the organisation and safety vehicles.

Article 13 : Withdrawal of the race
Competitors failing to follow the course, must bring back the dag system to the to the village or must return it to the organiser at least 15 days after the race (address: KMS Marseille Marathon, 46 boulevard de la fédération, 13004 Marseille).
Each non-returned dag will be charged 15 euros and the competitor will be disqualified from the event.

Article 14 : Dop test
Dope tests will be done at the arrival, on competitors named by the FFA.

Article 15 : Handisport
The marathon and the semi-marathon are open to disabled persons.
The organisation forbidden the use of the “Handybike », only “traditional” wheelchair is accepted.

Article 16 : Cancellation insurance
Cancellation insurance (=7€), in case of illness, injury, transport accident of the insured, or death of the insured's spouse, parent, or child, a medical certificate or other legal proof will have to be addressed to the Marseille Marathon (via KMS)  March the 17th, 2012, at latest.
The refund for the Marathon will be 45€ for all registration of 52€ including a cancellation insurance (45€ bib price + 7€ cancellation insurance) and 55€ for all registration of 62€ including a cancellation insurance (55€ bib price + 7€ cancellation 
insurance).The refund for the Semi-Marathon will be 22€ for all registration of 29€ including a cancellation insurance (22€ bib price + 7€ cancellation insurance) and 28€ for all registration of 35€ including a cancellation insurance (28€ bib price + 7€ cancellation insurance).

Article 17 : Case of force majeure
In case of force majeure, of disaster or of independent reasons, the organisation holds the reserved rights to cancel the race without according any reimbursement to competitors.

Article 18 : Finish line
Competitors have the possibility of keeping their runner number as a souvenir after the return of the dag system to the KMS stand. A medal will reward every runner who runs until the finish line.

Article 19 : Agreement
All competitors running the Marseille Marathon (semi-marathon and marathon) are involved in acknowledging and accepting all the clauses of the rules.
