What is the date of the 2012 Marseille Marathon?
The 2011 Marseille Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 25th, 2012.

Who can register?
The Marathon race is open to all athletes licensed or non-licensed, born in 1992 and before. The Half-Marathon race is open to runners born in 1994 and before.
Participation in sporting events organized or accredited by sports federations is subject to the possession of sports licence attesting the issue of a medical certificate. For the non-licensed, the participation is subject to the possession of a medical certificate (or the copy) stipulating the absence of contraindications for participation in running competitions.

How to register ?
Four way of completing your registration are at your disposal on our website www.marseillemarathon.fr :

- Online, reserve your runner number from the registration link
- Take the opportunity to book our Marseille Marathon® packages including the entry fees and the accommodation from the  "Your accomodation" link.
- By post, downloading the registration form.
- By phone, +33 8.92.68.33.13 (0,34€/mn)                            

Registration deadline: March, the 15th , 2012.                   
Any registration will be accepted on the scene.

How much does the registration cost?
-    Marathon:  from 45 euros to 55 euros, from the 15th of December 2011

-    Half-Marathon: from 22 euros to 28 euros, from the 15th of January 2012

    Ladies : from 12 euros to 15 euros, from the 1st of february 2012

How can I pay?
You can pay by Credit Card (Visa, Eurocard, Mastercard) or by cheque.

If you choose the electronic payment on our website, you can only pay by Credit Card. If you choose to send your payment by the post, you can only pay by cheque addressed to KMS Marseille Marathon.

Do I need a medical certificate?
Your will complete your final registration only when you will receive the confirmation of your registration supposing that you have provided a medical certificate stipulating the absence of contraindications for participation in running competitions.       

The medical certificate must date from less than one year at the race date.       
You will give your medical certificate at the Marseille Marathon Village when you collect your bib.            Pay attention: without medical certificate, you won’t be allowed to run the race.    

Copy is accepted. A doctor must deliver the medical certificate. As the Ministère de la Jeunesse et des Sports and the FFA notify, "for raisons of the difficulty of signatory recognition and of the translation of mentions indicated on the certificate, it is necessary that the certificate be delivered by a doctor practising in France.

Where can I withdraw my runner number?
Runner numbers must be collected on Friday and Saturday March 23th and 24th 2012, from 9h00 a.m to 8p.m at the Marseille Marathon Expo, Vieux POrt (Old Port) 13002 Marseille.

Runner numbers will be available upon presentation of confirmation of  your registration , your certificate medical (or copie) or your licence and your identity document (ID, passport etc.).
Important: Any race number will be sent by post, and won't be allocated on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 before the start of the race. Your runner number could be collected by a third party nominated by you; this person will be able to provide a letter written and signed by you, your registration confirmation, and the proof of his/hers identity and yours (original or photocopy of ID card).   

Where is the Marseille Marathon® Village?
Marseille Marathon Expo : Old Port, (Vieux Port) 13002 Marseille (Downtown).

On Friday, the 23th, 2012 from 10:00 a.m at 7:00 p.m
On Saturday, the 16th, 2011 from 9:00 a.m at 8:00 p.m.

Where and when does the race start?
The Marathon and the Semi-Marathon starting lines are at the Canebière

- Official starting time for the Marathon: 8h30 a.m
- Official starting time for the Semi-Marathon: 8h30 a.m
- Official starting time for Ladies race: 8h30 a.m

Where is the finish line?
On the quay port in front of the City Council of Marseilles, Vieux-port for the both races.

How is the timing controlled?
Each competitor will be given a dag in his/her bib. The dag system will be automatically initialized at the starting line and will be used to control each competitor’s time from different check points placed on the route.
Competitors failing to follow the whole route will be disqualified.
The dags must be returned to the organizer after the race. In case of withdrawal or cancellation, the dags must be brought back to the village or returned to the organiser at least 15 days after the race (address: KMS - Marseille Marathon, 46 boulevard de la fédération, 13004 Marseille). Each non-returned dag will be charged 15 euros and the competitor will be disqualified from the event.

Are there cloakrooms?
Free lockers are at your disposal at the Village, quay of port. You could leave a closed bag (we recommend you to use the runner bag given to you the day before the race) and take it back after the race by presenting your runner number.

How is the weather in Marseilles during this season?
The temperature average is 12° C. The wind force is around 19,5km/h (average of the 4 last years.)

What will we find at the refreshment points?
On the 9 aid stations, you will find: water, cola,  gingerbread, sugar, fruits (bananas, oranges, dried apricots)
, and energetic drinks and gels.

Is there any reward?
A medal and a tee shirt will reward every runner who runs until the finish line of the marathon.
A medal and e tee shirt will be offered to every half-marathon runner and for laides race a medal and e tee-shirt for all runners.
The 3 best men runners and the 3 best women runners will be rewarded; the same for the 3 best men and women by age categories for the marathon, half-marathon and ladies.
The organisation will present reward only to runners present at the reward ceremony, except the runners kept at the dope tests.

Is it possible to someone to ride a bike following me during the race?
For safety reasons, bicycles or motorised vehicles are strictly forbidden on the course, except the organisation and safety vehicles. At the risk to make runner disqualified. Persons without runner number are also unauthorised on the race route.

If finally I can’t participate, could I resale or give up my runner number to someone ?
Each registration is personal, and definitive and cannot be refund for whatever the reasons. No registration transfers will be allowed, whatever the reasons.
Any person retroceding his/her runner number to a third party, will be held responsible in case of an accident arising or provoked by this third party during the competition. The organisation is exempt from all responsibility in case of an accident in this type of situation. Runner numbers must be fully legible during the whole race.

I will be present only the day of the race… Is it possible for a third person to withdraw my runner number for me?
Yes, it is. You can nominate someone to collect your runner number for you; this person will be able to provide a proof of his/hers identity and yours (original or photocopy of ID card), and a letter written and signed by you with your registration confirmation.
